Welcome to "Heron Tracks"

A Sampling of Rhyming Poetry and Other Keyboard Scribbles

"When I was younger, I used to think I was pretty smart.

Now that I'm older, I'm smart enough to know that I'm not as smart as I used to be."

Bob Stampe … 2007

Some work, some prose, some metered rhyme, some serious, some not.

Some thoughts that needed to be saved, ... before they were forgot.

The links are doors, so come on in, and hang around a while.

Some of this will make you think, but much will make you smile.

The Recalcitrant Rhymer

When I first started writing out my rhyming metered prose.

The stuff I had no choice but pen, my psyche predisposed.

I showed a few folk what I'd done, and some, they called it cute,

while others, self said poets, they were quick to style refute.

It seems that poems now must be expression in free verse.

I've tried it. I don't get it. It just goes from bad to worse.

So I'll keep writing metric rhymes, despite their reprimand.

I feel the need to do my thing, this written slight of hand.
